The wash won't take paint specks off, and we tell you up front rather than scrape at them. Razor work on aged glass can scratch the pane and chew up the putty line, so we leave it alone. What we will do is get the haze and grime off so the glass reads clear again, specks and all.

You notice it from inside the house. The afternoon light swings low, comes through the front glass at an angle, and the pane you thought was clean turns milky. That haze is pollen and fine dust, and it builds so slowly you quit seeing it until the sun points it out. The fix is gentler than you'd think. We rinse it away with purified water and a soft brush on a water-fed pole, feet on the ground, and the pane dries bright with no wiping at all. On an older sash with its original putty, that light touch is the whole point.
Newberry is an old inland mill town on the rolling red-clay hills of the lower Piedmont, about forty-five minutes up I-26 from Columbia. The housing tells its story: wood-sided mill houses in the West End, Mollohon, and Oakland villages, Victorian and Queen Anne homes along Main Street and College Street, and brick ranches from the decades after the war. There is no lake or river in town; what ages these exteriors is shade, humidity, and time. Our process, step by step
How We Clean Your Windows
This is the routine on an older home, window by window, the way we actually run it.
Every window gets a close look before it gets wet. Brittle putty, loose corners, and storms that have shifted get flagged, so each pane gets the touch it can handle.
Screens that come off get set aside, washed gently, and rinsed clean before they go back in place. The sills and frames behind them get rinsed too, since grit hides there and washes back onto clean glass otherwise.
The soft brush on the water-fed pole does the scrubbing, pane by pane, with purified water flowing the whole time. Upper floors get cleaned from the ground, which keeps ladders off the house on most jobs.
The last pass floods each pane with purified water until it runs clean off the glass. With the minerals filtered out, there's nothing left behind to haze the glass, so we skip the towels and let the sun finish the job.
