No. This is patient hand work, and old runs get treated like old runs. We've cleaned plenty of aged gutters along Harrington Street, so we know the hangers and seams on older homes can be tender. If something up there is loose or soft, we leave it be and tell you about it rather than forcing it.

Gutters run on their own clock, not the house-wash calendar. The big one is a clearing after the fall leaf drop. Under the mature hardwood canopy over the older streets, troughs load up every time the leaves and seed litter come down, and shaded runs may want another look after spring. The clog is almost certainly below the trough, down in the downspout elbow. That's the tightest bend in the line, so wet leaves and shingle grit wedge there first. Water backs up behind the plug and spills over a run that looks perfectly clean from above. Opening and flushing every elbow is a standard part of our cleaning for exactly this reason.

Given enough storms, yes. Overflow runs across the fascia and down the trim, and on the older homes around here that's painted wood that softens when it stays wet. You may also spot red clay splashed up along the foundation after hard rain, which is roof water hitting bare ground instead of draining away, and that clay staining may not budge with a simple rinse. Keeping the line clear is the cheap end of that whole problem.
No. As long as we can reach the gutters and use an outside spigot, we can do the whole job while you're out. You'll come home to bagged debris and a draining system. If you'd rather be there, we're happy to show you what came out of the line.

A clogged gutter doesn't look like much. The trough fills, nothing happens for a while, and it's easy to forget it's up there. Then a hard rain arrives, the water has nowhere to go, and it pours over the lip and down the fascia instead. On the older homes around here that fascia is real wood, and so is the trim below it. Our process, step by step
What the visit looks like
It's a simple job done thoroughly. Here's the order we work in.
We walk the house before a ladder touches it. Heavy canopy corners, shaded runs, and any fascia streaking get noted, and on the Lynch's Woods side of town, where the trees press right up on the yards, we expect the troughs to be loaded.
Matted oak leaves, seed litter, and shingle grit come out by the handful and go straight into a bag. Old metal gets a gentle touch. We don't pry at seams or hang weight on the runs, and if a hanger feels loose we flag it for you.
This is the step a quick job skips. The elbow is where debris wedges tightest, so we clear each one and flush the downspout behind it until water pours out clean at the ground.
Water goes through the whole system while we watch each outlet. If a line drains slow, we keep at it. When we pack up, you're not guessing whether it worked. You watched it drain.
