Pool Deck Cleaning in Columbia, SC by Bub's

What you get with Bub's

  • Gentle method matched to the textured, colored, stamped, or cool-deck finishes most older patios are poured with, so we won't strip the coating
  • Kills the slick algae right at the step-out where bare feet land, not just rinsed off the top so it greens back in a week
  • Careful around coping, waterline tile, and the liner so nothing bleach-sensitive by the water gets lightened
  • Calcium scale at the waterline and red-clay iron are inorganic, separate hedged jobs, not part of the deck wash, and we'll tell you straight what'll move

The right way to clean a deck around water

Why a wand by the pool is the wrong tool
It's not a driveway. It's a barefoot surface wrapped in bleach-sensitive stuff

The hardware-store wand

Fast, loud, and rough on everything by the water

  • High pressure pits the texture and strips the color and coating right off a finished deck
  • Overspray drifts onto coping, tile, and the liner and lightens whatever it lands on
  • Blasts the surface green off without killing the root, so it's back slick in no time
  • Pushes the dirty rinse and any mix straight toward the pool and the beds
Bub's method

Our gentle deck wash

Chemistry does the work, low pressure does the lifting

  • Solution kills the algae down in the pores so it comes back slower, not just rinsed off the top
  • Soft wash or low pressure matched to your texture and coating, so the finish stays even
  • Coping, waterline tile, liner, and beds shielded and rinsed so nothing nearby gets bleached
  • Rinse runs away from the water, and the little that gets in is basically pool chlorine, easily rebalanced

No surprises, straight answers

The questions Columbia homeowners
actually ask

We do everything we can to keep it out. We control where the mix lands, work away from the water's edge, and rinse the deck down and out, not toward the pool. I'll be straight with you though: some fine dirt and a little of the solution will almost certainly find its way in. That's not a big deal. Our mix is basically a strong chlorine, the same family as the chlorine already in your pool, so it won't hurt the water. After we're done you may just want your pool tech to rinse the fine dirt out of the filter and rebalance the pH, and you're good.

That's exactly what we guard against. Coping, tile, and the liner all sit right in the splash zone where overspray wants to drift, so we keep the solution off them, rinse as we go, and watch the edges the whole time. The green comes off, the surroundings stay their color.

Not with a gentle method. The reason we soft wash a coated or stamped deck instead of blasting it is to protect that finish. High pressure is what strips coatings and fades the color; letting the chemistry do the work keeps the coating and the even tone right where they belong.

Yes, because we soak them first and keep them wet the whole job. Pre-wetting is the real protection. A soaked plant won't drink in overspray. We pre-wet, rinse, and final-rinse the beds, so the landscaping that frames your pool comes through fine.

The white is calcium scale and the rust is red-clay iron, both mineral, not algae, so a deck wash doesn't lift them. They take separate treatments, and we'll be straight that those only lighten so far; a set-in one may barely move. No promises we can't keep.

That's most of the decks behind these established homes, and gentle is the right call for them. Textured and aged concrete is exactly where you don't want a wand. We go low and let the solution do the cleaning, so an older deck comes back even instead of pitted and striped.

Simple to book

How a pool deck quote works

Booking a pool deck quote is simple, and the number comes off a real walk of your deck and water's edge. You reach out, our booking team gets you on the schedule, a tech sizes it up in person, and you get a real price before anyone turns on a hose.

1

Send the quote form or give us a call. Let us know roughly how big the deck is, what the finish looks like, and how slick it's gotten. A real person picks it up, not an answering service.

2

Our booking team reaches out, often the same day, and lines up a time that works for you. No waiting around for days to hear back, and no pressure to commit before you've seen a price.

3

On site we check the finish, whether it's textured, coated, stamped, or cool-deck, and look hard at the splash zone: coping, waterline tile, liner, and any scale or rust. That walk tells us how gentle to go and what's a separate job.

4

You get a straight, in-person quote based on what we actually saw: what the deck wash covers, and an honest read on anything inorganic like calcium or red-clay iron that'd be separate. Then we book the wash.

Columbia questions, answered

It would if we hammered it. High pressure pits textured concrete and strips the color and coating right off. We don't work that way on a deck. We let a cleaning solution kill the algae, then lift it with a soft wash or gentle low pressure tuned to your finish, so the deck comes back clean and the surface stays exactly how it was poured.

It's algae, and the shade behind these older homes is what feeds it. The deck stays damp from splash-out and our long humid summers, and that constant moisture grows a slick organic film right where you step out of the water. We kill it down in the pores and clear it off, so the grip comes back with the clean look.

Your plants are fine, since we soak every bed before we start and keep it wet so nothing dries on the leaves. On the pool: we keep as much of the solution out of the water as we can, but a little fine dirt and a bit of the mix usually gets in. It's minor. Our solution is basically a strong chlorine, the same family as your pool chlorine, so it won't throw the water off much. Your pool tech may just want to rinse the filter and check the pH after, and that's it.

That white crust is calcium scale and the rust is red-clay iron. Both are mineral, not algae, so the deck wash won't touch them. They're separate treatments, and honestly they only lighten so much; a deep one may barely move. We'll look at it in person and tell you straight what's worth doing and what isn't, no overselling.

Pool decks green back faster than the rest of your concrete because they stay wet all season, especially the shaded ones behind these older Crane Forest homes under the canopy. Most folks do best on about a about every year-and-a-half to two years rhythm, usually right before they open the pool so it's fresh for the season.

Yes. We come to you across Columbia and the Midlands, from Crane Forest and Pine Valley out toward the river and the older tree-shaded streets nearby. We're a mobile crew, no trip fee inside the area. If you're right on the edge, just ask and we'll let you know.

If you’re considering using Bub’s Pressure Washing & Softwashing, I can’t recommend them highly enough—this is one of those companies where the people make all the difference. From the very first interaction, their team stands out. They’re responsive, easy to work with, and genuinely care about doing things the right way. You can tell immediately that they take pride in their work—not just in the results, but in how they treat their customers. It’s rare to find a group that combines professionalism with that level of personal accountability. What really impressed me was the consistency and attention to detail. They don’t cut corners, they communicate clearly, and they follow through on exactly what they say they’re going to do. That kind of reliability builds instant trust, and it’s clear why so many people refer them to neighbors and friends. The service quality itself is top-tier. They approach each job with precision and care, making sure everything is done thoroughly while also respecting your property. Little things—like cleaning up after the job or going the extra step to make sure everything looks perfect—are where they really separate themselves from typical service providers. But honestly, what sets Bub’s apart most is the character of the team. There’s a strong sense of integrity and work ethic behind everything they do. You don’t feel like you’re just another job on the schedule—you feel like they actually care about delivering a great outcome. If you want a company that combines high-quality work with outstanding people and service, Bub’s is exactly who you should call.

I recently used this pressure washing service and was very impressed with the entire experience. The team was extremely professional from start to finish. They arrived right on time and immediately got to work, staying focused and working nonstop until the job was fully completed. What really stood out to me was the quality of the results. Compared to other companies I’ve used in the past, this was by far the best outcome I’ve seen. Everything looked noticeably cleaner and well cared for. I would absolutely use their services again in the future and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to friends and neighbors looking for reliable, high-quality pressure washing. Mark

Pool Deck Cleaning in Columbia, Soda City

Pool Deck Cleaning done right in Columbia

Most pool decks around here sit off the back of an older home, the shaded patios behind the brick houses in Crane Forest, the decks tucked under a mature canopy out toward the river. That shade is exactly the problem. The deck stays damp from splash-out and one of the hottest, stickiest summers in the state, and the textured or color-coated concrete it's poured with grabs algae fast. It greens up right at the step-out where you're barefoot, and that's a slip you feel before you see it. You can't fix that with a wand. High pressure pits a textured deck and strips the color, and the cleaning solution will lighten anything around the water it drifts onto. So we go slow and gentle: a solution to kill the growth down in the pores, a soft wash or careful low pressure to lift it, and a close watch on the coping, the tile, and the beds so nothing by the pool gets touched.

Columbia sits where the Saluda and Broad rivers meet to form the Congaree, and that river-valley humidity, paired with some of the hottest summers in South Carolina, is exactly why exteriors here grow algae so fast. From the older brick around Shandon and Five Points to the homes in Forest Acres and out toward Lake Murray, the Midlands' iron-rich red clay leaves a rusty tint on top of the green, and a garden hose won't touch either one.

From Jaggers Terrace, Olympia, and Childs, Columbia homeowners count on us for pool deck cleaning done right.

While we're at your Columbia place, we can knock out your driveway cleaning, concrete cleaning, and patio cleaning too, all on the same trip with no second trip fee.

Our process, step by step

How we clean a pool deck and keep the water in good shape

A pool deck isn't a driveway. It's a barefoot living space wrapped around a body of water, with surfaces that bleach, scratch, or burn if you're careless. Here's how we get the green off and the grip back, keep as much as we can out of the pool, and stay straight about the little that gets in.

First we figure out what we're standing on: textured broom finish, a colored coating, stamped border, or a cool-deck topping. Each one tells us how gentle to go. Then we look at the splash zone: where the coping meets the deck, the waterline tile, the liner, any low spots that hold water.

Before any solution touches the deck, we pre-wet every plant and bed around the patio and keep them wet the whole time. Pre-wetting is the real protection. Soaked leaves don't drink in overspray. We mind the coping and tile so the cleaning mix never pools against the bleach-sensitive stuff.

We lay the solution down and let it dwell so it kills the growth at the root, not just on the surface. That's the difference between rinsing green off and actually killing it. Kill it in the pores and it comes back slower. Then a soft wash or careful low pressure lifts it, matched to the deck so the finish never gets chewed.

We rinse the whole deck down and away from the pool, flush the beds one more time, and check the finish dries one even color instead of patchy. If there's calcium scale at the waterline or a rusty red-clay stain, we flag it then. That's an inorganic problem, a separate treatment, and we'll be honest about how much it'll move.
