No surprises, straight answers
No. An older Columbia slab is fully cured and hard, which is exactly why it can take a proper surface clean. We run an even, overlapping pass instead of jabbing a wand at it, so we pull the years of grime off without gouging or striping the concrete.
No. Stripes come from someone swinging a bare tip and overlapping uneven. We run a surface cleaner for a flat, even pass and post-treat the whole slab, so an aged approach dries one tone from the garage to the curb. No clean strip sitting next to a dirty one.
Oil's a specialty stain. A degreaser can lighten a surface drip, but only so much, and a deep one set into an old slab may barely move. Red clay is iron, a separate acid treatment from the green, and on a cured slab we can usually lighten a good bit. We tell you up front what'll come up and what won't, and we don't promise oil gone.
Yes. We soak the grass, beds, and the curb strip running along the driveway before we start and rinse it all down after. The cleaning solution only causes trouble if it dries on plants, and we keep everything wet so it doesn't.
Once it's rinsed and dried, yes. We rinse the slab and the ground around it thoroughly so nothing's left on the surface. Just let it dry the way you would after a summer rain.

Getting your quote, step by step
Booking a driveway clean is quick, and the price comes off a real look at your slab. Here's the run from your first message to a number you can stand behind.
Call or fill out the form and tell us what you're dealing with: the whole driveway, the dark film, an old oil shadow, the rusty clay cast. That's all the booking team needs to get you going.
Someone reaches back fast, often the same day, and locks in a time that works for you. The booking team keeps you posted, so you're never left waiting on a callback that never lands.
Before any water runs, a tech walks the approach with you: how the slab's cured, where the algae and traffic grime are heaviest, and which marks are oil or red-clay rust versus growth. That's what sets the surface-clean plan and flags the separate treatments.
The tech sizes up your actual driveway and gives you a straight price on the spot. Free, no obligation, no trip fee. Give the go-ahead and we get to work.

Questions, answered
More than you'd think. An older Columbia slab is fully cured and hard, so it takes a real surface clean. We pull years of algae film, traffic grime, and dark off and bring it up one even tone. Deep oil or rust is a separate story, but the slab itself usually cleans up far brighter than folks expect.
That's Midlands red clay, iron laid on top of the growth, not algae. The cleaning solution that kills the green won't touch the iron, so it's a separate acid treatment. On a cured older slab we can usually lighten or remove a good bit, but deep-set staining may not fully lift, and we'll tell you straight before we start.
I'll be straight: oil's a specialty stain, not part of the regular wash. A degreaser and agitation can lighten a surface drip, but only so much. Oil that's soaked deep into an older slab over the years may barely move. We'll tell you what to expect before we touch it, and we won't promise it gone.
A bare tip leaves zebra stripes. Clean strips right beside dirty ones, and they're a headache to fix once they're in. A surface cleaner runs an even spin over the whole slab, and the pre-treat and post-treat make sure an aged drive dries one color front to back instead of blotchy.
Between the river-valley humidity and the long hot summers, the green film comes back steady here. Most Columbia drives do well on about a about every year-and-a-half to two years rhythm, and a shaded approach under the older tree canopy around Gardendale or Woodfield Park tends to want it a little sooner.

Driveway Cleaning in Columbia, Soda City
Most driveways around Columbia have some age on them. The poured approaches in front of the older homes through Gardendale, Woodfield Park, and Broad River Estates have been baking under Soda City summers for a long while. The upside is that a cured, fully-hardened slab can take a proper surface clean, and these older drives soak up a real one. Decades of river-valley humidity grow a flat film of algae over the whole approach, tire scuff builds at the street, and the Midlands red clay leaves a rusty cast on top of the green. We pre-treat the slab to break the growth down, run an even surface pass to pull off the grime and the dark, then post-treat so it all dries one tone. Two straight notes: that red-clay rust is iron and the oil under where the car sits is petroleum. Neither is algae, each is its own treatment, and on a deep old stain we'll tell you honestly what lifts and what's there to stay.
Columbia sits where the Saluda and Broad rivers meet to form the Congaree, and that river-valley humidity, paired with some of the hottest summers in South Carolina, is exactly why exteriors here grow algae so fast. From the older brick around Shandon and Five Points to the homes in Forest Acres and out toward Lake Murray, the Midlands' iron-rich red clay leaves a rusty tint on top of the green, and a garden hose won't touch either one.

Our process, step by step
Here's the whole run on an aged approach around town. A full surface clean a cured slab can handle, even everywhere, nothing hidden.
We walk the approach and read it. How the algae film sits across the concrete, where tire scuff and traffic grime have built at the street, the rusty red-clay cast, an old oil shadow by the car. An older Columbia slab is fully cured and hard, so it's a candidate for a real surface clean, but we still flag what isn't algae so nothing gets oversold.
A cleaning solution goes across the whole drive and gets time to work into a surface that's collected years of grit. On an aged slab that soak matters. It loosens the deep film and the dark so the cleaning pass comes up even instead of leaving shadows behind.
On cured concrete we work the slab with steady, overlapping passes to one uniform tone. No bare wand, so no clean stripe beside a dirty one. This is the pass an older, hard driveway can actually take, and it's what pulls years of buildup off the approach. On a newer drive that's set up but hasn't fully hardened yet, we don't back the cleaner off entirely. We drop to a gentler nozzle that spreads the spray softer and lean harder on the pre-treat soak, so the cleaning solution carries the load and the machine touches the surface light.
A post-treat evens the color and slows the regrowth, a full rinse clears the residue off the slab and the curb, and we hand-work the apron, the joints, and the street edge. Where an old oil or rust stain won't fully lift, we tell you that straight rather than promising it away.
