Yes, and we treat painted brick even gentler than bare. Old paint can lift under force, so the wash stays at low pressure and we test a quiet spot first. If the paint is already flaking, we'll show you before we go further.
Yes, the way we do it. Low pressure plus the right mix means there's no hard pass that can dig out a soft joint. Force and trapped water are what hurt old mortar, and our method leans on neither.
A wash alone won't move them much, and we won't pretend otherwise. Rust and clay are mineral stains, so they take a separate specialty treatment, and even that has limits we'll spell out first. Same with an oil drip, we can sometimes lighten one, but a deep stain may barely budge.
Slower than you're used to, is the honest answer. The wash kills growth at the root, so anything new has to start from scratch instead of regrowing from what a rinse left behind. On a shaded wall over damp ground it will show up again in time, and catching it early keeps the job small.

The longer growth sits on old brick, the longer that wall stays damp. Damp is what wears mortar down, and plenty of walls in the Avenues are still on their original joints. How we wash a brick wall
Every old wall gets the same careful sequence, planned around its softest joints. Here's the day from setup to final rinse.
We read the mortar before a drop hits the wall, flagging soft spots, cracks, and past repairs. Anywhere water could sneak in gets covered or worked around.
Beds, shrubs, and grass along the wall get soaked before we start and rinsed when we finish. Pets stay inside until the wall is done.
The soft-wash mix goes on at low pressure and gets time to kill growth down at the root. There's no hard pass on the brick face or the joints, the mix does the work.
We rinse the whole wall gently and look it over with you. Any white haze or mineral stain that stays behind gets named for what it is, with honest next steps.
